Grimethorpe were incredibly close to taking a record breaking 17th Brass In Concert title at the 2015 BIC Championships at The Sage Gateshead but were thwarted by an unfortunate placing from just one of the five adjudicators, the other four of whom had placed the band variously first and second…
Grimethorpe were pleased however to come away with the Harry Mortimer Best Principal Cornet Award for Professor Roger Webster, the Gateshead MBC Trophy for Best Soprano Award for Kevin Crockford, the John Fletcher Best Basses Award for the boys in the back, and the overall award for Best Quality of Performance for their lunar inspired programme of “Imagined Oceans”.
Grimethorpe Colliery offer their thanks to the organisers of Brass In Concert and The Sage for another warm welcome in Gateshead and look forward to returning to the contest in 2016 to take their 17th title.
