Following our performance at Brassed Off Live on Tuesday at the Royal Albert Hall, we have been absolutely blown away by all the messages of support, thanks and the general outpouring of love for the band. We can’t adequately express our thanks to you all for coming along and being part of what was such a wonderful event.
The roar that greeted us as we walked on to the stage was staggering, and the one that followed “William Tell” was even louder and quite overwhelming – more akin to a winning goal at an FA Cup final than a Brass Band concert! A capacity crowd filling the Albert Hall with shouts and cheers are things that will stay with us forever.
You reminded us all of what a special band Grimethorpe is and how lucky us players are to be a part of it. We also have the best fans and supporters anyone could ask for!
Together we are Grimey!
We would also like to thank Maestro Ludwig Wicki for his support and expert direction during rehearsals and the performance, and all of the Production Crew and the Staff of the Royal Albert Hall for making us feel like superstars.
Let’s hope we get to do it all again one day.
In the next few days once we have come down off the ceiling we will post some of the images from the event on our Facebook Page and here on the Website.
Thank you from all at Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
