After winning the Swiss Conductors Competition in 2006, Michael Bach is enjoying a successful career as conductor and has led various bands to numerous national and international titles. He has conducted Brassband Bürgermusik Luzern since 2009 and in addition to numerous contest successes in Switzerland, together they won the European Brass Band Contest 2014 in Perth (UK).
Besides a busy concert schedule in his home country with different Orchestras, Brass and Wind Bands, he is regularly conducting abroad and has been guest conductor with many bands in Europe, such as Grimethorpe Colliery Band in 2023. Further to his conducting, Michael is also increasingly in demand as a Contest Adjudicator and has judged at contests including the EBBC, the WMC in Kerkrade or the British National Championships at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Born into a family of musicians, Michael benefited from an excellent education with several institutions. During his conducting studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Berne (CH), he was taught by renowned musicians including Ludwig Wicki, Oliver Waespi and Thomas Rüedi. Several masterclasses led him to people like Timothy Reynish, Baldur Brönnimann and Alex Schillings.
