In the wake of the bands momentous show at the Royal Albert Hall, the bands performance of the Brassed Off soundtrack has garnered a lot of praise and attention. James Moore, writing in the Independent, said “The performance of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band at the Royal Albert Hall was superb, the film as thought-provoking, and deeply moving as ever. Tears flowed freely.”
Many of the stars of the film, and the general public, took to social media to comment on the evening. Writer Mark Herman, and two of the actors in the film, Steven Tompkinson and Melanie Hill, expressed their delight at the bands performance and the evening in general.

Phone doesn’t do it justice. Multiply sound of band and reaction by 50 and that would be nearer. #brassedofflive https://t.co/06Svkplm7Z

Local MP Michael Dugher also took to twitter after the show, and modal and presenter Melanie Sykes along with Gaby Roslin shared their evenings on Instagram.

Add to that the hundreds of audience members and friends of the band that have messaged the band, and shared their evening on social media and praised the band and their performance, and it adds up to an evening that neither the band, the stars of the film, Mark Herman or the lucky audience members will forget in a hurry. Let’s do it again soon!
