Over 50 young brass and percussion players travelled from near and far to take part in Grimethorpe Youth Band’s Autumn Workshop on Saturday 28th September.
Players enjoyed working on new music as well as several classics including Malcolm Arnold’s “Little Suite for Brass” and a special performance of “La Belle Americaine” by guest soloist Mark Glover, Principal Euphonium of Grimethorpe Colliery Band. Mark said:
“It was a pleasure to coach and perform with all of the youngsters in the band and I wish them all the success in the world. They tackled some tricky music in a short amount of time and should be proud of the performance they gave.”
The day finished with a short performance to parents to showcase the talents of all the young musicians which was recorded and will be shared online in the coming weeks.
Grimethorpe Youth Band hosts termly workshops for young brass and percussion players of all levels to receive specialist tuition from expert tutors and provides opportunities to work alongside members of Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
